PSI recognizes its corporate social responsibility to encourage sustainability and to participate in sustainable business practices, both internally and via the services provided to our clients. The term 'sustainable development' was popularized by the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) in its 1987 report entitled Our Common Future. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
The 4 R's of reduce, reuse, recycle and recover are considered to be the base of environmental awareness and sustainable development, and a way of promoting ecological balance through conscious behavior and choices. It is generally accepted that these patterns of behavior and the "sustainable" choices made by consumers and businesses will lead to savings in materials and energy which will benefit the environment. PSI is committed to optimizing sustainable business practices as well as participating with and supporting our clients in their sustainability efforts and programs.
PSI's corporate sustainability program Go Green PSI is supported by Executive Management and directed by PSI's Go Green Task Force. The Go Green Task Force is responsible for communicating and championing PSI's sustainability initiatives to the entire company. In addition, PSI is a sustaining member of the United States Green Building Council and active in promoting "green" practices in how we do business.
PSI and its employees are committed to promoting sustainability where practical and in synch with both our and our clients' business goals.
